Sera Storme

Eight years ago, Sera Storme was forced to give up her baby daughter, Lani, for safekeeping. On the run from the Trillium criminal organization, she became a bounty hunter and mercenary for hire, taking jobs where she could, staying low-key.

On her most dangerous assignment yet, she and Lani are reunited. Sera Storme is a hotheaded bounty hunter, a crack shot and a master of unarmed combat. Being a mother was not something she was prepared for.

Now Sera must track down and defeat Xane Mori, a dangerous psychic from Mars, in the Sol system, while keeping eight-year-old Lani safe from the Trillium soldiers hunting them. Her only ally is the icy Sabian Delain. Sera’s mission will force her to confront her past, and to find a way to forge a bond with the daughter she left behind.

What Rises From the Depths

Endric Inuusuttoq is a cocky and stubbornly independent 19-year-old. He knows a thing or two about swordfighting. He's confident. He's winning bouts in the arena everyday. He lives for the sound of his name as it's cheered from a crowd.

But when the ship he's boarded for passage to his next tournament is taken over by pirates, everything changes.

He is cruelly maimed.

He is tossed overboard.

He is left for dead.

When he wakes up, he has been rescued and he is safe and somehow, he is alive, but things are not the same. In addition to taking his right hand--his sword hand--it seems the pirates have taken something else he once thought vital for his livelihood:  his sight.

So what's a guy to do? Well, get his revenge, naturally.

If only things were as simple as that.

The Maker's Son

The Maker's Son is an alternate history fantasy in a world where raccoons evolved in parallel with humans, taking over the Americas and holding humans at bay for generations.  In 1687, the Spanish have had quite enough and send an armada to invade, beginning with the southern tip of Florida.  Chuktik, a novice Enforcer, flees the destruction, and with his young companion, Claktiss, they take a Spanish cabin boy captive and search for anyone who will help them broker a peace before it's too late.

Crossing the Streams

Non-human romance. Tarot-powered difference engines. The bureaucracy of the gate to Hell. These and more appear in this anthology of strange stories by Jeremy Zimmerman. This anthology collects five genre-bending tales from fantasy to steampunk to cyberpunk.

“I won’t spoil the ending, but I will offer that the imagery in this tale is so wonderful that the settings sometimes transported me away from the main character’s conflict. The scenes in this story, like Impressionist art, consist of ordinary subjects displayed in mesmerizingly vacillating light. Whereas I usually care most about plot and about character development, these descriptions were so robust that I would gladly read additional pages of Zimmerman’s work just to reimmerse myself in his language.”
– KJ Hannah Greenberg, Tangent, regarding “A Crazy Kind of Love”

“Unchained Melody is a sharp, beautiful blow to the heart. Zimmerman wrote a heroine who is recognizable; a woman who is defining herself, on her terms.”
– Lillian Cohen-Moore, author of The Imperial Companion, and Hatavat Chalom

The Extra-Terrestrial Toilet

Larry and his alien buddy, Nittix, travel through the universe in a time-travelling bathroom going from one misadventure to the next.

But, what mysterious power had put these two unlikely travelers together, and what is the purpose of the tests they endure?

Written in the humorous style of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

There are currently 25 chapters in this series to date.

Red Sky: Rising

Winner of Ilbn's "Best New Science Fiction Author"

Hayden Flynn is no hero. In fact, he's on the run from monsters. Not the kind that go bump in the night, but the kind that eat away at your soul. He's crossed countless miles and decades trying to escape them; however, when a legendary evil is reborn in the body of a powerful child, Hayden becomes trapped in a hunt where survival is no guarantee.

Now, the salvation of our deeply divided world rests on the weary shoulders of one vampire and the curiously quiet girl, Quinn Merrin, who crosses his path. Is it destiny or divine intervention that brought them together? Either way, they'll stop at nothing to find the new Prince of Darkness―even if it means leaving a path of bodies and blood in their wake. Because, after all, what price is too high for salvation?

Ben Archer burst on the scene by deftly ignoring the traditional boundaries found in the publishing world. In this genre bending mash-up of science fiction, horror, and comedy, he's created a world that can only be defined as "delightfully unique." It will spin you around, leave you swooning, then steal your wallet while you're not looking.

Machinery of Man

Explore this exciting new story by the author of The Everything Factor (2014)

Everything we've known is wrong! Prepare for a truth that will shake humanity to its core!

Machinery of Man follows Doug Vasiter's visit to the hamlet of Bandigan Bay as he oversees the production of a new Denathynol plant. Denathynol is a revolutionary new fuel source mixing minimal amounts of oil with natural materials found in the soils surrounding meteor impact zones.

Though the project can provide much needed employment to Bandigan Bay residents, while also serving as the first step in extending mankind's warranty on Earth amid our impending energy crisis, there also exists a sect of people aggressively  and strangely opposed to any new development.

A series of seemingly odd, "abort" messages across modern day technological devices, peculiar acts of vandalism and mysteriously cold, detached people all culminate in a mind bending truth.

Everything that people have regarded as facts about who and what we are as a species, where we come from, and the evolution of life itself, will be completely rewritten.

The truth will either set everyone free, or destroy everything in the process.

One man's passionate project, designed to be socially and environmentally responsible, will end up being the very thing that the fate of our entire universe rest upon.

Wings of Silver and Blood

After a thousand years of protecting the last of humanity, the City of Gabriel is dying. When it goes, the domed city will either be the womb that gives birth to the next step in human evolution, or it will become the largest tomb on Earth. Below the city, inside a vast warren of caves, Elliott Dawning awakens to find that the last three years of his life have been taken from him. His will, his body, his very identity, has been usurped and wiped away until the moment he opens his eyes. His body has been changed, more so than the rest of the humans inside the domed city. He begins his third life as the unstrung puppet trying to find his sister and stay away from the artificial archangel that had abducted him. By the end, Elliott will be forced to either take up the role of puppet master, or condemn a hundred million people to death.

Sarah Dawning has known loss in her life. When she lost her parents, her brother kept her from giving up. When her brother died, she anchored herself to the Holy Order of Archivists and the man she loves, Bishop Galen Rostum. Together they will learn that the city's Archangel A.I. has plans for both of them, and their love for each other will be the catalyst that ignites the terrible purpose hidden within Sarah.

When brother and sister find each other again, they will launch revolutions, unleash monsters, give rise to miracles, see the birth of magic and legend in a world of technology, and perhaps discover something about who and what they have become. That's assuming they survive, of course.

Time & Chance

Meet Arrin, one of many clones created to be a soldier. When the war for which they were created ends and he learns they're scheduled for destruction, he leads an escape. Now free, Arrin and his brothers exact revenge upon the government that made them, until Arrin is captured and exiled to the Christian colony on the planet of New Earth.

In a universe where most people believe clones have no souls, can Arrin accept the Christian teachings of salvation and find hope and peace of mind? Join him on a spiritual journey filled with rousing misadventures that will keep you turning pages until the answer is revealed.

The Takeover

Men have found a way to get what they have always wanted; a way to take back control from the women who fought to gain what they deserve.

Alliances are formed, rebellions rise, families are torn apart.

In this sci-fi, thriller, sexes are divided leaving a country without a government. Cities are under siege as people flee from tyranny and bloodshed.

This book will be sure to leave you choosing a side, or wanting to watch it all burn.

"These characters are real! They're rounded, they talk like human beings and not TV drama characters, and they've got issues. Bigger issues than I can imagine, sounds like. I'm looking forward to reading the full book."

"Just when you think a female protagonist can't possibly be more badass or have more attitude than Jessica Jones, author Rebekka Leber rolls out Max Lucas to prove you wrong. The first three excerpts take you on a ride you can't possibly see coming, and leave you hanging with questions you're dying to have answered. All of Shiva's thumbs way up!"

"It’s tricky to juxtapose different tones in any type of writing.  And Rebekka is doin’ it WELL.  This is a skillful blend of mythological dark fantasy with razor sharp contemporary wit.  The protagonist is realistically flawed, charming, and intriguing.  Rebekka crafts visceral and cinematic imagery in both modern and ancient settings.  She has a mastery of authentic, organic dialogue in both the present and the past.  You’ll be on the floor laughing at the effortless humor one minute, and in awe at the power of the gods in the next.  I’m going to enjoy watching it progress, and can’t wait until it’s finished.  Reading this is definitely worth your time.  Read it, recommend it, and show it some Inkshares love.  This one’s going to be a great ride. "

"This book has me giddy in all the right ways. It blends the real with the fantastical, while serving up a hefty dose of attitude. Delving into the territories of religion, mythology, alcoholism, and conspiracy is no easy task, but Leber handles them with ease. I've immensely enjoyed what I've read so far. The lead is especially a great joy to read, with her complexity and rawness, but also because of her humor! If you like strong women, complex characters, sarcasm, and grit, you're going to want this book."

Intrepid

The realms of Evren are in the midst of revolution— the newly established constitutional monarchy is democratizing the government, and science and industry are accelerating at the fastest rate in history. The world is changing, but for three women, change is a four letter word.

Arlenis, an Abyssal, cursed and banished to live among the mortals she refused to kill.

Nathania, a prophet, trying to find purpose after the Paragons abandon the world.

Verity, a blend, child of the Imperator and a fallen Paragon, who the Soraline, the Sisters of Fate, have just sent a sentinel— an honor normally reserved for deities.

But, when Valen, Paragon of Order, decides to reassert his control over the world, each begins to find meaning for the changes in their lives.

Three different times. Three different destinies. Three lives, entangled, that will change the course of Evren forever after the Day the Infinite Fell.

Dark World

In 2078, sixteen-year-old Ruby R-1046 is introduced to her future mate, Connor C-2246. Over half a century after an alien invasion pilaged our oceans and messed up Earth's natural orbit, what is left of humanity has survived by living in a large underground fall-out shelter that began construction after satellites first picked up alien transmissions in 2016. The complex is governed by strict, almost sadistic laws such as once you reach age sixty, you are “put to sleep” because you are too old to be of use, and your life-mate is chosen for you via a genetic assessment for optimum breeding. No one is allowed near the surface and people are told the only living things above them in the wastelands that used to be our continents are cannibalistic monsters.

Ruby is ordered to marry Connor on her eighteenth birthday, but her heart wants someone else. She is in love with one of her best friends, Reese. On Ruby's sixteenth Birthday, Reese takes Ruby to a forbidden, sealed off passageway and introduces her to Silver, a strange and unkept young girl who has no ID chip and seems to know nothing about the complex. She tells them she is from Earth’s surface. As Ruby and Reese attempt to find out the truth about this unique stranger they slowly begin to uncover a sinister entanglement of lies, genocide and the governments willingness to destroy an entire planet in an attempt to control and “genetically improve” a whole new wave of humanity.

“Dark World” is formatted as a series of novellas, each one focusing on a particular event in the story as each event piles on top of the other to unravel the dystopian tyranny the government has managed to create underground. Although the plot itself is action-packed and designed to keep the readers on the edge of their seats, its the characters themselves that fuel the story with their passion, sense of adventure, love and dedication to one another. The main protagonist, Ruby, is the sixteen year old girl that almost every woman has been at some point. She enters this life-defining story at a pivotal place in her adolescence as she strives to make the leap from childhood to adulthood while caught in the middle of a world of lies that begins to crumble around her. As her beliefs are challenged and tested by these extraordinary events, she responds by clinging naively to love while also digging deep within herself to find her own personal signature of autonomy and bravery, a unique and solidified identity that we all search for as we face impending adulthood.
