This is another part of the story that doesn’t make sense. Rey’s arc has her coming to the conclusion that love and peace trumps violence. We see her face down a large serpent that would kill her, but because it is wounded, she heals it with Life Force and kindness and it leaves her and her friends be. She heals Kylo Ren and he abandons the Dark Side and his urge to murder her.
