“We’re never going to finish before we have to go to school,” Kali said as Sam was working the trickiest turn of the dovetail on the latest support beam.
“Just a sec.” Sam focused on the cut. Even with the jig he’d made, this bit was easy to overshoot.
When he’d finished, he tapped out the blocks he’d cut, leaving a set of perfect teeth, which he slid into the end of the beam he’d finished a few minutes ago. “I really think this is going to work.”
“Of course, it’s going to work. I told you it would.” Grandma sounded a bit grumpy, but Sam supposed she had a right after the night she’d had.
