For the first time Sam could remember, he went to class without having completed his homework.
He expected every moment to have his unpreparedness exposed, but as the minutes ticked by, in one class after another, he was mostly able to follow. Unless a teacher asked him specifically about a problem or reading, he wasn’t going to get caught, and though he tensed every time a teacher asked a question, so far it hadn’t come to that.
In fact, despite not having done any of the work, he felt he was understanding much more easily today than yesterday.
“Amazing what a difference a full night’s sleep makes,” he muttered to himself as he whizzed through a practice problem that had made no sense to him the day before.
