Gabe couldn’t see a thing.
His head felt like it was splitting open, too.
He raised a surprisingly shaky hand to the point behind his right ear that felt the worst, and his fingers came away sticky.
Was that blood?
And why was it so dark in this place? The only thing he knew for sure was that he was lying on a hard surface. He groaned and then whispered, “Please, God, help me.”
“Hang on, I’m coming!” came one of the most beautiful voices he’d ever heard. Could God show up as a woman?
A pinprick of light bobbed toward him and the woman came into view. A dim glow from her right arm illuminated a curvy, nearly naked body and a vaguely familiar face surrounded by a halo of dark hair.
