Tori was sure she had the shuttle’s communication gear working correctly, but she wasn’t getting any response to her transmissions. She refreshed her incoming message screen for the fifth time in as many minutes and tried not to think about what the lack of contact might mean. Hope and its thousands of people had to be all right. They had to be.
Her whole family was on that ship. Everyone’s family.
“Are you OK?” Gabe asked.
Tori looked over to the command console. He appeared to be working on the navigation systems. “You got command and control working again?” she asked, both because she was surprised he’d managed it so quickly and because she didn’t want to talk about the silence from Hope.
