“Move out of the way,” Lu said.
Gabe was suddenly gone, and the pain in Tori’s arm flared as Lu clamped something white down onto it.
Tori tried to wriggle away.
“Oh, no you don’t. We have to stop the bleeding. What were you thinking?”
Tori felt a bit dizzy, so she tossed the armband away from her and used her left hand to stabilize herself against the counter. “I was thinking that I’d go loopier than my cousin Leroy if I couldn’t trust my own eyes for much longer.
“Your cousin Leroy?”
“One of Mom’s first cousins. He’s got a permanent bed in the Wellspring Home.”
“Oh, Tori, you should have told us.”
