Tori might have let herself get lost in the experience if the prayer hadn’t sounded like one of his more desperate ones.

She squeezed the arm she was leaning on. “I’m sure we can figure out how to disable the armbands without cutting them off. And if we can’t, we’ll control the cutting procedure better so that nobody else is in as much danger as I was.”
