Brian was the last one to have his armband cleared of junk.

It made sense, of course.

Gabe needed his first because he was working with navigation and helping Tori protect them from cyber attacks from the Chinese ship and from Hope. All of his work sped up when he could rely on his own eyes again instead of having Mr. Yi read every last thing to him.

It also made sense to get Lu updated fast. Her research in the trove of documents Hope had sent them required a lot of reading, too.

He, on the other hand, sometimes went days without really looking at a single bit of text. He didn’t need to read labels to know which spice he’d stashed where on the shelves. Nor did it take enhanced brain power to ensure all their bits and bobs were securely stowed. (...
