past stripped down to bones
     nostalgia cracked for the marrow
          gone years salvaged for parts
               all we got left is scraps for the black dog

exhume what was for the sake of now
     stitch together the limbs of better times
          fashion some spiteful revenant
               to seek vengeance on regret

                     hope for lightning to strike again
               so what you lost lurches back to false life
