Michael Crichton was showing the world a glimpse of the future, one we are living today, when he wrote and directed the sci-fi thriller Looker (released in 1981). Credited now as the first movie to predict CGI technology by actually making a CGI character – that of Cindy (Susan Dey) – the movie came right on the mark in predicting the technological development and its implications for human behavior, particularly in the developed corporate world.
Looker starts as a thriller with the title taking the more obvious meaning as young women with killer good looks, perfected to the nth degree via cosmetic surgery by Dr. Larry Roberts (Albert Finney), start dying by accident or suicide.
