Georgie Ellis topped up Pauline Philbey’s coffee and slid the cup back to her.

Pauline added milk and two sugar lumps, stirring thoughtfully.

“Mmm,” she said. “They do good coffee here.”

She glanced around as if tempted to compliment the staff.
