I rang Kitty straight after Alex suggested Sylvia and her daughter could rent her spare room.

“I’ve never had grandchildren. I don’t even have any nieces and nephews. Oh it would be lovely to have a little one running around the place. Do you think she’d like it?”

“Fingers crossed. I’m going to pass on your details. Hopefully she gets in touch. If I’m not around Linda will ask her to contact me as I’ve a lead on a place to rent.” Privately I reckoned Sylvia would bite off Kitty’s hand to get such a kind offer with such low rent.
