Waking up beside a vampire was surprisingly pleasant. Paul doesn't put out much (read any) body heat, but in the middle of summer, when my AC was on the fritz, this wasn't a problem. I snuggled closer to him, enjoying the cool flesh against my overheated torso.

He made a small sound of pleasure and wrapped his long arm over me, an additional shock of chill making me shiver.

"Too chilly?" he asked, his voice a baritone rumble in my ear.

"Not at all. Just right."
