Sunday, May 2, 2010. Late afternoon

Why do I never remember to turn off the ringer on my phone before going to sleep?

The opening bars of “All I Need Is Love” went off right by my ear. Great. Left the ringer on and dropped it right by my ear when I crashed.

I yawned and fumbled for the phone. From the ringtone, I already knew who it was. Stephen, my boyfriend.

“Hey.”

“Hey, yourself.” A pause. “Did I wake you?”

“Yeah.” I tried to make my brain work, but it resisted my best efforts.

“Out really late last night?”
