Chapter 11

Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Early Afternoon

I arrived first at Annie’s. Sonya, my favorite waitress, was working. She frowned when she saw me. “What’s wrong?”

It’s good to have friends who can read you. Except when you don’t want them to. I shook my head. “Not now, Sonya. Maybe later.”

She glanced out the window as she seated me. Stephen was just walking up. He looked so damn good. It wasn’t fair. His long hair hung down his back, and I couldn’t help remembering all the times I’d held that weight in my hands during lovemaking. He was dressed in his usual tight t-shirt and ripped jeans. I couldn’t help a smile. I’d been responsible for one of those rips.
