Peter stepped behind Arrin and slid his arms under Arrin’s. “Stand up.” He groaned with the effort, but he managed to force Arrin to his feet.

Step by dragging step they made their way back to the car. Pastor Willis had turned the heat up all the way, so it was almost hot in the vehicle compared to the outside air. Rory, lying on the back seat, had slipped back into unconsciousness, but he was breathing steadily. Arrin slid into the front passenger seat, hunched down inside his blanket, shivering, bowed his head and closed his eyes. Peter climbed into the back seat with Rory and held him close to his body to warm him as Pastor Willis sped to the hospital.
