Sterling gasped. “But I can’t buy illegal drugs!” he said. “What if I’m caught? I don’t want to go to jail.”

Arrin glowered at him. “Oh, I see how it is. You’re only concerned with yourself! Fine then! Go back to the dorm and warm yourself by the fire while I continue to suffer! I’ll find a more loyal friend.” He turned his back on Sterling.

Sterling’s eyes widened. Ever since Arrin had chosen to strike up a friendship with him alone and not Peter who was respected by all, or Pastor Willis who was equally well respected and with authority besides, he’d felt special. He couldn’t lose that special status and become nobody again. But he couldn’t break the law either. It was too much to ask.
