Keeping to the shadows he crossed the parking lot to the private hangar. He went straight to C51860; the same ship Cody and Logan had used to bring him back from Barumi and the only ship in the colony’s fleet of four capable of interplanetary travel. He regretted stealing from the innocents of New Hope, but he was willing to compromise his principles this one time to escape.

He entered the ship, dropped his bag on the floor inside the door and checked the fuel gauges, which were full. Fortunately, Kevin was as conscientious as Arrin had judged him to be since he wouldn’t have been able to go far without adequate fuel. He powered up the ship, taxied onto the runway, and lifted off.

He was pressed into his seat until the internal gravity sensors adjusted. Then he watched New Earth out...
