It was a sound argument, and so was everything else Leo had said. Arrin wanted to believe it all, for he was sick to death of hurting, and he longed to be loved, and forgiven. There was an obstacle, however.

I’ve killed that same baby, the baby’s father, my wife and daughter, my brother, and two police officers who were only doing their duty. I bear some blame in my son’s death too, for I was irresponsible in conceiving him; and then there’s Meara.”

“It’s arguable you ‘killed” all those people. Although your actions did play a part in their death...
